According to the AV Club article by Dennis Perkins, the trailer raises a moral question about a Santa who can’t be “naughty” yet hires a criminal to steal for him, but the visual of Schwarzenegger crowd‑surfing in a Santa outfit is intended to reassure viewers of the film’s light‑hearted tone.
